Undefeated Friendswood Hosts Iowa Colony Friday in Key District Matchup

FRIENDSWOOD, Texas — Friendswood football has been nearly unstoppable through the first half of the season, and the Mustangs will try to keep that momentum rolling Friday night when Iowa Colony comes to town.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, October 2, with Friendswood entering the matchup 5-0 overall and 3-0 in district play.

Iowa Colony comes in at 2-3 overall and 2-1 in district, making Friday another important matchup as the district race begins to take shape.

Friendswood has been dominant through five games

The Mustangs have not simply started the season unbeaten. They have controlled games from beginning to end.

Friendswood has outscored its first five opponents 294-38, averaging nearly 59 points per game while allowing fewer than eight.

Iowa Colony presents another district test

Iowa Colony’s overall record does not tell the entire story.

The Pioneers opened the season with non-district losses before finding their footing once district play began.

Iowa Colony opened district competition with a 62-0 win over Pasadena and followed that with a 31-16 road victory over Freeman.

The Pioneers suffered their first district loss last week, falling 34-24 to Angleton.

That leaves Iowa Colony at 2-1 in district play and still firmly in the postseason conversation entering Friday night.

Friendswood has put itself in an excellent early position

At 3-0 in district play, Friendswood has positioned itself well entering the heart of the schedule.

Friday’s game is followed by an October 8 road trip to Pasadena, then a home game against Freeman on October 16.

One of the biggest dates remaining comes October 23, when Friendswood travels to Angleton.

For now, though, all attention turns to Iowa Colony.

Make it a full Friday night with Pasta Palooza

Families heading to the football game can start the evening early at Friendswood High School.

The Friendswood High School Choir is hosting its annual Pasta Palooza pregame dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the FHS cafeteria.

The event will include dinner along with princesses, heroes, singing, dancing, photos and activities for children before kickoff.

Another Friday night under the lights

Friendswood has already given Mustang fans plenty to cheer about this season.

A 5-0 start, three straight district victories and an offense averaging nearly 60 points per game have made the Mustangs one of the area’s most impressive teams through the opening month.

Friday gives Friendswood another opportunity to stay unbeaten, strengthen its position in the district standings and keep a remarkable start to the 2026 season rolling.

Kickoff against Iowa Colony is set for 7 p.m. Friday.
