FRIENDSWOOD — Three games into the season, Friendswood High School’s football team has given its home crowd plenty to anticipate. The Mustangs return Friday with a 3–0 record after beating Victoria East 60–7.
The next assignment is Fort Bend Dulles. Friendswood’s schedule lists kickoff for 7 p.m. Friday, September 18, at Henry Winston Stadium.
A fast start, by the numbers
Friendswood opened with a 31–6 victory over Texas City, followed by a 71–11 win over Clear Brook. Last week’s road result made it three consecutive wins by at least 25 points.
| Date | Opponent | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Aug. 28 | Texas City | Won 31–6 |
| Sept. 4 | Clear Brook | Won 71–11 |
| Sept. 11 | At Victoria East | Won 60–7 |
That works out to 54 points per game for the Mustangs and eight for their opponents. Those averages describe a strong opening stretch; Friday offers the next measure of whether Friendswood can sustain it.
Another district opportunity
The Dulles matchup listing identifies Friday’s contest as a district game. For Friendswood, the immediate goal is to carry its early success into another league result in front of the home crowd.
The schedule then sends the Mustangs to South Houston on September 25 before they return home to face Iowa Colony on October 2. Both games are listed for 7 p.m. on the football program’s schedule.
